Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association, Sitka AK

ALFA is an alliance of small boat commercial fishermen committed to sustainable fisheries and thriving coastal communities. Under the leadership of the ALFA team, the Fishing Fellow will focus on the advocacy, policy, outreach and communication of ALFA’s Fisheries Conservation Network and SeaBank programs.

North Pacific Fisheries Association, Homer AK

NPFA is a multi-gear, multi-species regional organization that represents fishermen and their families out of Homer, Alaska. The Fishing Fellow will learn from a highly engaged group of fishermen focusing on responsible and effective engagement in the management process.

NN Cannery History Project, Naknek/Anchorage AK

The NN Cannery History Project is a grassroots, public history endeavor that aims to share the oft-forgotten stories of the multitudes of people who canned salmon in Alaska and created an ethnically diverse, economically vital cannery culture. The Fishing Fellow will assist with the project fundraising, marketing, and planning.

Young Fishermen’s Almanac Project, Coastal AK

The Alaska Fishermen’s Network is hosting a Fishing Fellow of our own this year to assist with the upcoming second volume of the Alaska Young Fishermen’s Almanac. Under the direction of AMCC and AKFN staff the Fellow will gather submissions, network with fishermen in coastal communities, and add their creativity and energy to the process.

Koniag, Kodiak/Anchorage AK

Koniag is an Alaska Native Corporation based in Kodiak and Anchorage working to achieve financial growth, honor culture, protect lands, and advocate for Koniag communities. The Fishing Fellow will work on fisheries access issues and engage in the fisheries regulatory process on behalf of Koniag and its shareholders.
