Young Fishing Fellows Program

Applications are open to become a Fishing Fellow! For more information about this year’s hosts and projects visit the application information page. Applications are open until May 24.

The Young Fishing Fellows Program works with community-based partner organizations to design projects that provide young fishermen with valuable learning, leadership, and career-building opportunities. The program matches the goals and needs of young fishermen today with host organizations engaged in work ranging from fishery management and policy to seafood business and marketing, fisheries and ocean sciences, and fishing community sustainability.

Each fellowship is structured to provide opportunity, experience, and support to young fishing leaders through mentorship, professional development, and hands-on learning.

Current and former Fishing Fellows also serve as the steering committee for the Alaska Fishermen’s Network.

To learn more about the program, check out our Fishing Fellows FAQs page.

Please reach out to fish@akmarine.org with any questions.
